Business Development Representative (m/w/d)

toern is a growing AI startup based in Hamburg that is reimagining the returns process in e-commerce. With an automated all-in-one solution, we help online stores efficiently manage returns, streamline processes, and gain real business insights from return data.

Your role:

As a Business Development Representative (m/f/d), you are the first point of contact for potential customers and thus a key driver of our growth.

You ensure that potential leads turn into qualified sales opportunities, thereby laying the foundation for our sales success.

Responsibilities
  • Independently planning and executing outbound campaigns based on our previous experience and customer contacts
  • Identifying and reaching out to (via email, LinkedIn, calls) of relevant e-commerce companies in the target market
  • Qualifying inbound and outbound leads and assessing sales readiness
  • Developing and refining an AI-powered sales system
  • Converting prospects into qualified appointments and opportunities for the founder
  • Maintaining and accurately documenting all activities in the CRM (currently HubSpot)
  • Supporting the preparation, execution, and follow-up of trade shows (including actively approaching customers before and during events)
  • Working closely with Marketing to optimize messaging and campaigns
  • Continuously testing and optimizing outreach strategies

Qualification
  • Experience in sales, business development, or a customer-facing role (B2B/SaaS/e-commerce preferred)
  • Not afraid of proactive outreach and direct customer communication (you’ll naturally pick up the phone or reach out to prospects via LinkedIn on your own behalf)
  • You’re a good listener and can put yourself in the other person’s shoes
  • Structured, self-motivated, independent, fast-paced, and reliable work style with frequent follow-ups (the be-all and end-all!)
  • Strong communication skills (written & over the phone)
  • Interest in SaaS, e-commerce, and AI-driven products
  • Excellent German and English language skills
